In each episode, the characters run into a 'big' problem they have to solve. Even my 5 year old commented while watching that "their problems don't seem very big. The only thing that pulls Super Why back from being a show to avoid is that it emphasizes letters and reading in a useful way.

My 3 year old and 5 year old are both able to watch it and get something out of it. This show isn't a substitute for reading with your kids and teaching them! But it at least has some redeemable qualities. Some of the plots are more painful than others, so it's worth keeping an eye on the messages and discussing them with your kids afterwards.

Each character has a power which illustrates the importance of teamwork. This program is great, especially for children in pre-kinder and kindergarten because by those grades they are learning their sight words. I loved watching this show growing up and it has never sent me the wrong message from when I was a child and even now. Have kids give it a try, if they do not like it that's okay! There are always other educational shows out there.

Barney and Friends is probably the worst kids show that I have ever seen. It teaches kids nothing, the songs are corny, it is not educational and the characters are just plain agitating. I am not one to disagree with those who hate the show. Honestly, I have seen more negative than positive reviews for this show. This show contains no educational value or age-appropriate educational material whatsoever.

More reasons why I dislike this show is because of the crappy plots, cheesy dialogue, horrid special effects and the abysmal story lines. Besides, it says that you should eat junk food if you are sad and that strangers are your friends.
